It was a cold night, early Spring. A lot of chaos was going on throughout the house, everybody yelling at each other and such things.
Or at least right now April had finished being angry at her older kids and was engaged in an extremely rare shouting match with her youngest, the older two upstairs.
Leaving May in their room, Max went outside with a sigh, onto the little deck they had had installed several years back. He leaned against the railing, looking at... nothing at all, really.

He'd find a woman with blonde hair, who looked to be in her late twenties or so, sighing as she leaned out of her bedroom window, smoking a cigarette.

Max, confused, looked a bit closer. He'd never seen this woman before. He almost motioned to her... before becoming suddenly timid, shrinking back. He gave a small sigh then.

The woman noticed the action, giving a small wave back before taking another huff of her stick.

He found himself blushing then, and gave her a reluctant smile, waving back at her.

A moment passed before the blond went back inside, shutting the curtains and the window behind her.
"Soooooo... Who was that, Max?" A voice squeaked from behind the brown haired boy.

"I... I don't know." Max replied, turning around to stare at May. "...I want to know, though."

"Uh-huh..." The child-like teen stared back at her older brother.
...it looked like she thought he was playing with her. A staring contest.

"What's that address? Do you know?"
...And he blinked.

"Nope and I WIN!!" The girl was positively giddy at that last bit, rarely winning in 'games' she played.

"...May, you're silly."
He gently pushed past her to get back in the room, closing the screen door.

"...Nuh-uh!" The girl replied, sticking out her tongue while following her brother inside.

"Oh?" He asked, flopping down on his bed and grinning at her.

"How so?"

"'cause you..." The girl plopped on her bed, trying to think of reasons. "'cause you, uh.... Because you are!!"

He giggled with her, turning over.
"Goodnight, May."

"G'night big brother!" The teen replied, doing the same while grabbing and clutching her stuffed rabbit tightly before going to sleep.

The next day, after school, Max let May go a bit ahead of him, falling behind. He was standing, now, close to the fence of the house, staring up at the window he'd seen the girl out of the previous night.

It'd be moments before he'd see the woman letting out a barking greyhound out to the front lawn to investigate the new visitor. "There you go ya damn mutt..." The woman sighed, following the dog to find Max.
"...Oh god, you're not one of those door to door mormons, are you?"
