One of said hand his April square on the top of her stomach. She winced heavily, holding her stomach, and then grew a bit angry.
"That's IT, young lady! Go to your room. That was a very mean thing to do! You don't hit, I told you that!"

The girl stomped upstairs to her room with a pout carved on her face.

April sighed as she watched her go, standing back up fully and starting to walk up. She expected the pain to only last a moment or two... but it wasn't going away...

Max followed suit.
"No." April replied.

"It's gonna okay, Mommy!" May said, trying to cuddle up to her. She... didn't fully understand what happened.

Max didn't quite understand either. He knew what had happened, yes, but even so it... wasn't fully indented yet.
"Everything'll be fine." He assured, though the saying came out almost like a question.

"Is there anything I can do for you, Mommy?" The black-haired teen asked.

"No Sweetie..." The woman sniffed, putting on a smile and blowing her nose. She looked at the two. "You two are just darling, staying with me like this..."

May gave her mother a kiss on the cheek and curled up next to her. "Okay, Mommy." She said.

They'd hear a door tumble before shortly seeing the youngest of the family came down from the staircase, taking a short, cold glance at her family.

Max cast a quick glance over before looking to May. April heard a noise and looked to the door way.

May looked at her feet as her sister went to the kitchen, likely to get something to eat for herself.

Or she would, if April didn't rise to her feet right then. The tears were gone, and now she was angry, as both kids could see. She grabbed something from the coat hanger beside her door, and started stomping down stairs.
Max looked to May, and took her hand.
"Should we see what happens?"

"I don't think so..." The black hair girl said lowly. "We might get hurt by accident..."

Even so, Max walked to the top of the staircase, just to see if he could see anything.

"Hi Mommy." The girl said, paying no mind to her mother.

"Don't you 'hi mommy' me." April said, storming into the kitchen and grabbing Evelyn by the back of her collar.

"Ow! Mommy, that hurts!" She complained, grabbed by the back of her dress's collar.
